Anise Almond Biscotti

Ingredients: 

1 3/4 c flour
1 1/3 c sugar
4 tbsp butter
1 tsp baking powder
1 1/4 tsp anise seed
1/2 tsp salt
3 large eggs
3 egg yokes
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp grated lemon rind
1 c slivered almonds

Instructions: 

Mix first 5 ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Whisk eggs, yokes, vanilla and butter in a 2 cup measure, and stir in lemon rind. Add to dry ingredients and beat until dough clumps together. Stir in nuts. Divide dough in half and roll each into a log. Place side by side on a greased cookie sheet. Whisk egg yokes until creamy and brush over logs. Bake at 325 for 35-40 minutes.
Let cool.
Using a serrated knife cut each log into 1/2 inch slices and place on cookie sheet side down and
bake at 325 for 15 minutes and turn over and continue baking until a light brown.
